Summer semester returns to COS in June
College of the Sequoias will be offering a limited summer semester from June 10 to July 18. The item was part of the COS Board of Trustees’ agenda for its annual retreat Jan. 25-26.
Classes offered should be searchable at www.cos.edu April 1. Priority registration will open May 6. Open registration will begin May 28. COS was forced to eliminate the summer semester in 2011 and 2012 because of budget cuts.
EUSD begins registration for Kindergarten next Tuesday for 2013-14
Exeter Unified School District will begin their Kindergarten registration for the 2013-14 school year from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb, 12 and Wednesday, Feb.13.
Kindergarten registration for both Lincoln and Rocky Hill schools will take place at the new Crespi Center located at 215 N. Crespi in Exeter. Please enter from the north side of the parking lot. In order to register your child they must turn 5 years old by Oct. 2, 2013. You must bring your child’s birth certificate, complete vaccination records and either a rental agreement, utility bill or mortgage payment as proof of Exeter residence at the time of registration. Your student does NOT need to attend registration. At registration you will be scheduled a time for your student to attend the Kindergarten Round-Up which is an assessment/activity time. Round-Up will be in March. (Note: Transitional Kindergarten may be available for students who turn 5 years old between Oct. 2 and Dec. 2.)

Strathmore registration for Kindergarten begins next month for 2013-14
The Strathmore Union Elementary School will be having Pre-School, Transitional Kindergarten, and Kindergarten Registration from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5 in the Elementary School Auditorium.
Children may be eligible for Pre-School if they turn 3 or 4 years of age on or before Oct. 1, 2013 and for our Transitional Kindergarten class if they turn 5 between Oct. 2 and Dec. 2, 2013 and for Kindergarten if they turn 5 years of age on or before Oct. 1, 2013. Birth certificate and immunization records are required at the time of registration. Annual Farm Bureau Calendar Art Contest seeking entries
Calling all young artists! Farm Bureau’s 2013 Calendar Art Contest theme is “Tulare County Agriculture…Our History, Our Future.” Winning entries will be printed in a 12-month full color calendar distributed to schools throughout the county recognizing the winning entries and honorable mentions. The winners will be presented prizes and cash awards at the National Agriculture Week presentation with the Tulare County Board of Supervisors on March 19, 2013.
Tulare County Farm Bureau in partnership with the Tulare County Office of Education and the Network for a Healthy California hosts this annual calendar art contest, inviting K-12 grade students from all public and private schools to submit agriculturally themed artwork for publication in their annual calendar. The program seeks to create awareness of National Agriculture Week held in March each year and help young adults understand the connection between healthy eating choices and the bounty of Tulare County’s agricultural production. Entry forms have been distributed to all schools countywide, but additional copies are available by contacting Tulare County Farm Bureau office. Contest details and rules are outlined on the entry form available online at www.tulcofb.org. Students may want to visit the AgVentures! Learning Center at the Heritage Complex to be inspired as they draw their entries. Tours are available by calling AgVentures! at 688-1030.
