Spartans fall late
The Strathmore Spartans gave Sierra Pacific a run for their money on Thursday, Jan. 17 as the Spartans hosted the Golden Bears in an East Sequoia league match up. The Bears came into this contest posting a 14-2 overall record and is considered one of the top five teams in Division 4. Strathmore apparently did not receive that memo.
In the first quarter the Spartans jumped out to an 11-8 lead over the Bears before Sierra Pacific tied it up at 25 at the half.
The Spartans would take a 34-32 lead in the third quarter before the Bears made a last minute push to take the lead and the game as Sierra Pacific wins 48-45.
Sophomore Andrew Pearson led the Spartans with 12 points with six of those points coming from three pointers. Eric Lopez also had six points from three pointers.
On Friday Jan. 25 the Spartans (6-7) will be traveling to Porterville to take on Granite Hills (11-3) with the tip off set for 7:30 p.m.
