Donna Fay (Bolen) Sanders

Services for Donna Fay (Bolen) Sanders were held on Jan. 19, 2013 at Harvest Assembly of God in Fair Play, Mo. She was buried in Lindley Prairie Cemetery near Bear Creek, Mo. She died on Jan. 16, 2013 in Tyler, Texas at Hospice of East Texas after a valiant fight against ovarian cancer.

Donna was the second of three children born in Bear Creek, Mo. to Zester and Anna Faye Shackelford Bolen on Jan. 25, 1933. In 1940 they moved to Exeter where Donna later graduated from Exeter High School in 1950. On Jan. 19, 1952 she married John Sanders in Visalia. Donna was a homemaker while John worked for the Visalia Police Department for many years. They moved to Fair Play, Mo. in 1990 while also maintaining a home in Visalia and traveled back and forth. They had 61 wonderful years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zester and Anna Faye Shackelford Bolen; brother, Freddie Bolen; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Rose Martin. She is survived by her husband, John, of the home; two daughters, Sandi Curran (Mike) of Tyler, Texas and Penny Russell of Fair Play, Mo.; a brother, Berry Bolen (Betty) of Fair Play; a sister-in-law, Sue Bolen of Fair Play; five grandchildren, John Curran (Jamie) of Noblesville, Ind., Scott Russell of Porterville, Kristen Russell of Visalia, John Russell (Beth) of Visalia and DeAnna Curran Martin (Josh) of San Antonio, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew and Samantha Russell, Blake Russell, Kimberly Curran, Seth Russell, Mikayla Curran and Josiah Martin. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

She lived a beautiful life and is greatly missed by all. The family suggests memorials be sent to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75707. Arrangements were under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home East in Springfield, Mo.
