The Frank Ainley Invitational is in full swing on the high school campus of Woodlake,

The Farmersville Aztecs defeated Caruthers 55-52 in their first game of the tournament. Jose Del Real led the Aztecs with 24 points.

The Shafter Generals would face off against Orange Cove in the second game of the tournament. The Generals would defeat the Titans 55-46.

In the third game The Woodlake Tigers were up against Liberty Madera Ranchos. Anthony Lopez, Marcelo Silva and Jaycob Rodriguez would lead the team in scoring with 10 points each.

Despite three Tigers combining for 30 points, Woodlake was on the losing end of a 52-41 defeat to Liberty Madera.

First year head coach Louie Perez says his team is getting better and will be ready to play once East Sequoia League play begins.

“They have come a long way, we just need to learn how to finish games,” said Perez.

Once tournament play is over for the Tigers, Woodlake will be back on the court on Friday, Jan 4 in Exeter to take on the Monarchs.

As for the Aztecs, Farmersville will be hosting the Lindsay Cardinals on Wednesday, Jan 9 in a non league match up.
