Monarchs get big win over Kingsburg

The third time was the charm for the Exeter baseball team as they avoided the season sweep at the hands of the Kingsburg Vikings with a 15-10 victory at home on May 3.

The Monarchs offense came out firing as Exeter led 12-1 after three innings played.

Exeter recorded eighteen hits in the game led by Cody Tilley who reached base safely in each of his five plate appearances with four hits and a walk, also driving in a run and scoring three.

Tristan Kittinger had four hits as well, scoring twice and driving in three runs.

Eli Garver was 3-4 with two doubles and three runs scored and a run batted in, with Alex Farias driving in three runs of his own on a pair of hits.

Jakob Espinola connected for a two-run home run, the first round-tripper for him as well as the team this season, and was also hit by a pitch and drew a walk.

The pitching duties were handled by Alex Garcia who pitched four innings giving up three hits and striking out four to get his seventh win of the season, he’s now 7-1.

The Monarchs are 12-11 overall with a 6-7 record in the Central Sequoia League, good enough for fifth place.
